Lounge Experimentelle – Whalt Thisney returns to Klappstuhl! (SP 023)

The ever busy man behind Walt Thisney – Fernando Cerqueira from Portugal is the founder member of Thisco record label and also the publisher of the excellent Antibothis printed / cd anthologies and book collection THISCOvery CCChannel – released an incredible amount of digital only EP’s during the last years.
At first retro sci-fi influenced Synth Poppy Vaporwave (see a.o. the Album ‘Thiscontinuum’ released about 4 years ago – SP 007), then returning to his elder alter ego Rasalasad partly reworking those and diving more into the direction of classical experimental ambient (as far as anything like this exists) before adapting a new mutation of Whalt Thisney with plenty of lounge Piano on top of mostly hidden drones and noises.

Of course all of these alter egos overleap from time to time, some recommendations are Thiscordizen , a compilation of Piano songs especially created for the Haiku series of Naviar Records, the split-release Switched On This with Rasalasad and the Vaudou Stellaire collaboration with Chromatic and from Rasalasad the Thismorphia Album feat. some well-known guests.

Most of them can be found for free, or are linked from here.

As for the latests Klappstuhl release he agreed to do a special mix with less subliminal noises and the result can be listened to & obtained below – including two exclusive lengthy remixes by 6 9 N & F.

Novostj DsorDNE 1983-1988

ACC / A Colder Consciousness started as Radio Show via. Resonance FM by Fiona Pitrolo, all shows are archived on mixcloud. Basic themes are cold wave, extraordinary underground and eastern European alternative scenes as far as I can tell – all with a melancholy hint.
Last year they expanded their activities and started publishing music too. The first (re-)release was Jugoslavian’s Bastion debut LP / DL from 1984.

In due course of their label specials they interviewed Marco Pustianaz about HAX Materiali Per La Communicazanione and the Italian underground and experimental post-punk scene (still online here), got in touch with Marco Milanesio, one of the other driving forces behind the label collective and wow (now) here is actually an old / new release by DsorDNE and it’s preceeding incarnation Novostj:

(Limited Vinyl) LP & DL, remastered by Marco Milanesio himself from his old masters. Gracie !!!

A new video for DsorDNE’s signature song in it’s live version featuring New Noveta is here too.

Listen / buy / enjoy & find more details and lyrics at ACC’s bandcamp.

Additionally, released in February via Triple Void Records, Turin was a great electronic EP with two remixes by DsorDNE from the Italian postpunk darkwave electronic project Ginevra‘s latest album.

Learning To Cope With Cowardice + Lost Tapes

So with a deep look back in time (36 years now) here is an exciting Reissue I’ve been looking forward to since I read about it. Not just another Collection of b-sides and new mixes but a whole Compilation of unreleased outtakes is included now with the Maffia debut album before the classic Wimbish / McDonald / LeBlanc trio aided Mark Stewart.
See a newly made Video for “Liberty City” here.
The regularly over-used term ‘groundbreaking’ is finally used for once justified on this album which was/is a mutant melting of dub, industrial, anarcho free-style attitude with a singer who could sing but choose not to and lyrics which where not pretentious but worthy to chew upon years after years.

The original version of “The Paranoia Of Power”:

(from “The Lost Tapes” Compilation)

>> Mark Stewart himself perceives The Lost Tapes as a document that now possesses a storied significance: “It was a real adventure discovering this forbidden history, a twisted tale of Muswell hillbillies, French pirates and a Dutch schizophrenic doctor doing psychic archaeology.” Whilst Adrian Sherwood describes these works as characteristic of a distinct primitivism: “[The Lost Tapes represent] the early childhood of the songs before Mark and me conducted frenzied, scorched earth, slash-and-burn, twenty-hour mental, manic editing sessions at Crass’ studios that led to birthing the finished album.” << Info from Mute.com

There is also an Vinyl 2LP Edition, in black or clear with DL Code available directly via mutebank . Digitally the lost tapes are also available on it’s own via iTunes or Amazon.

Oh it’s that time of the year again – Festive Dots 2018

Time Is Short – Sing While You May

Glove Of Bones – Original Soundtrack Revisited & A Lot Of Things That Fell Out Of The Box

Also eagerly published in July already (SP 021, digital only with full artwork pdf) this one does fit way better to the sound of Autumn leaves falling, change of the seasons and a natural decease in order to start new beginnings than to the long never ending sweaty summer nights we had unexpected the luck to explore this year in full.

“The tooth root and aching backbone of the Glove of Bones creative project was an idea for a road movie without a road, a biography without a chronology or subject and an imaginary soundtrack for a film, based around a real movie.”

After the demise of the Digital Dizzy Netlabel GLOVE OF BONES needed a new home for various releases, the brilliant Ornithology found it’s way to the Ambient Label We Are All Ghosts where collaborateur Cousin Silas already was present with a batch of his guitar orientaded menderings as well as the follow up Album aptly titled ‘New Dub Manifesto’ issued in late 2017.

The ‘Things That Fell Out Of The Box’ collection got a new home at Petroglyph Music and Glove Of Bones own bandcamp (‘Glove Of Dub’) in 2017.

This one, first published as OST remained unavailable for some time – it’s a lengthy one piece track originally the soundtrack to the self-produced film which can be found here.
This new version got remastered and expanded by G.O.B. with 7 further new tracks expanding the original issue and themes.

Also out since April this year is the latest new work now on Argali Records Netlabel thematically circling around Alchemy featuring strange sound and voice recordings from the UBU Web Archive “Occult Voices – Paranormal Music, Recordings Of Unseen Intelligences 1905 – 2007”.
Not a lighthearted theme therefore stepping more into dark ambient terretories than his other releases which mainly keep an balance between experiments, dada, ambient craftmanship.

On the latest excellent pay-what-you want compilation from Argali – ‘Music For Dystopias’ – issued in August is another new track featured besides plenty of interesting artists somewhere between dark ambient, ambient, darkwave, drones and experimental. As the total lenght exceeds every double CD album this is a great listen when you’re in the mood for just this ..

On the other Hand there is t.r. hand now. Fluffy experimental ambient drones ?

What does that mean ? Try to find out here for a start before you head over to Submarine Broadcasting Co. to find a brand new collaborative album ..

Klappstuhl in early Summer frenzy – Kallabris, m. nomized & news on DsorDNE

>Yes, it’s that time of the year again where somehow things start working out………

SP 019

To good to be lost here is a release by a legend of the tape-scene, the multi productive

M. Nomized

from France who seems never to rest on his laurels if you take a look at his bandcamp page(s). ‘Sample 4’ was originally issued via Cold Spring in the late 80’s as Cassette in an edition of only 35 copies. The new cover shot is b.t.w. by Mr. Andy Falconer, a talented musician in his own right, nowadays living in Germany and splitting his time between photography and electronic sounds.

SP 020

Basically a collection of two earlier (limited and now deleted) releases by one of my very favourite sonic freestyle artists. Hard to categorize as most of my cherished publications but fully worthwile exploring on repeated listenings. Some more details here.

Besides looking back

Kallabris

is never short of looking forward and Inselkind Schallträger issued a new beautiful 180g LP ‘Red Square‘ in May where the diversity of his talents really shine – instrumentals, songs (!), freestyle, structures – you can find all there in one flow showing that Kallabris leaves nearly every musical boarder behind on his way. I’ve got no info which quantitiy was pressed but to avoid disappointment act fast.
In case it’s hard to find ask your friendly drone hq.

On a related note: It’s great to see

DsorDNE

(whose ‘Carceri‘ is still available @ Klappstuhl) furthermore active with a new release continuing the mere ambient Grafio Series on the Italien Asbestos Digit label from Rome;

Asbestos Digital 25

Besides his own releases and his work at O.F.F. Studio, Torino Marco even found time for a mix for NOODS Radio which can be listened online here:

London’s Lost Recordings – COIL Unearthed

January 2018

April 2018

Both the above are curated collections of material recently unearthed or in circulation before but not in the sound quality it deserved by the 2017 founded Coil Live Archive. While the main focus of Kiefer Gorena and Phil Barrington obviously concentrates on documenting and researching the Coil performance recordings any serious attempt to improve the incredible legacy is more then welcome.

In 2016 Phil Barrington already went through the remarkable process of re-creating the announced but never finished Coil Project and presented a possible version with ultimate care in sound and design also for free via archive.org.

It’s still questionable if Coil’s main body of work will ever be republished and made available for civil prices due to the many parties involved now in the estates of Peter and Jon (read an well-penned artile by PB here) and more than often only bootlegers seem to make profit out of their legacy since years.

A few exceptions of this where the Brainwashed related Treshhold Archive series which sadly came to an halt, Danny Hyde licensing ‘Backwards’ in it’s original form to Cold Spring, Drew McDowell re-issuing Time Machines or labels with an valid contract opted to reissue the albums, tracks and bits that where licensed to them (Important, Prescription, Sub Rosa, Optimo).

DsorDNE / Marco Milanesio / 9cento9 – RRRR [Remix, Release, Reissue, Remaster]

Time for a short resumee of various DsorDNE related activites…….

December 2017 – DsorDNE remixes parts of the 9Cento9 EP issued via DdEM in 2015, issued now on the new Triple Void Records label.

In February a new and free experimental EP was published on Marco’s own bandcamp February 2018, co-credited to 9CENTO9.

An extended 10 trk. reissue of the limited Cassette Issue from September 2017 on CD just appeared via Swiss Dark Nights early March.

& here is a brand new video to one of the additional – before unreleased – tracks;

Finally on March 19th, 2018 there is the first regular DsorDNE Album on Vinyl available again:

An exact replica LP reissue with just small adjustments in an edition of 800 copies is out via Dark Entries now, as well as a digital version (DL) for the first time.

Remastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Includes an extra lyric sheet and original press notes from 1990. Get it while you can.
