The Cleaners From X-Mas Eve

Yes it’s already that far with Martin Newell, just after Robbie Williams offered his seasonal highlight to the record buying public here he rides the season with his very own free digital EP with a lovely designed used 7″ cover;

Martin Newell on the other side far from retiring with a youthful age of 66 he just published his second Memoir, “The Greatest Living Englishman” (of course…).
No this does not sound pretentious – This is of course a homage to his best-known solo Album which finally put him on the map for wider recognition and left critics overwhelmed with joy due to the Andy Partridge production. Well, just to let you know I think the production is far from superior – at least the tracks I’ve known before sounded more direct and electrifying before this elder statesman of complicated Pop layed hands on them. But it worked and Newell was gained with moderate success so I won’t complain.
In this bound (!) book he tells his story 1975 up to 1995, if it’s as entertaining written as his “Little Ziggy” in which he took a close look on his 60’s let’s hope that he continues up to the revival he went through during the last years general reissue campaigns by Captured Tracks a.o.

Music & Elsewhere Twenty Five Years.02

Mick Did It Again !

After the 25 Years celebration compilation monster “The United World Underground” issued in 2017, he digged even deeper in his glorious tape label / DIY past to present you (as promised) digitized and mastered works of the dark past where nearly nothing was instantly available nor free nor digital.
This is meant to be the final collection celebrating the past before Mick Magic might make his words true and explore further territories in outer and inner space with a new album by his own Magic Moments At Twilight Time

See The Magic Net for more downloads and take the chance to get hold of the lovingly remastered reissue of M & E’s top selling CD Album ‘Creavolution’ (read all and more about it here) and get a decent hardcopy at TMR Records.

Click to go to the official info site. Official Release : 06/09/2019. Expect a Bang.

As expected this promises to be another wild sonic ride – from psychedelic, experimental, goth, electro to somewhere else with loads of shades in between. As a first glimpse a bonus virtual C90 is already out with some introducing words by Lord Litter (another survivor) over at the Electronic Cottage.

Glove Of Bones – Original Soundtrack Revisited & A Lot Of Things That Fell Out Of The Box

Also eagerly published in July already (SP 021, digital only with full artwork pdf) this one does fit way better to the sound of Autumn leaves falling, change of the seasons and a natural decease in order to start new beginnings than to the long never ending sweaty summer nights we had unexpected the luck to explore this year in full.

“The tooth root and aching backbone of the Glove of Bones creative project was an idea for a road movie without a road, a biography without a chronology or subject and an imaginary soundtrack for a film, based around a real movie.”

After the demise of the Digital Dizzy Netlabel GLOVE OF BONES needed a new home for various releases, the brilliant Ornithology found it’s way to the Ambient Label We Are All Ghosts where collaborateur Cousin Silas already was present with a batch of his guitar orientaded menderings as well as the follow up Album aptly titled ‘New Dub Manifesto’ issued in late 2017.

The ‘Things That Fell Out Of The Box’ collection got a new home at Petroglyph Music and Glove Of Bones own bandcamp (‘Glove Of Dub’) in 2017.

This one, first published as OST remained unavailable for some time – it’s a lengthy one piece track originally the soundtrack to the self-produced film which can be found here.
This new version got remastered and expanded by G.O.B. with 7 further new tracks expanding the original issue and themes.

Also out since April this year is the latest new work now on Argali Records Netlabel thematically circling around Alchemy featuring strange sound and voice recordings from the UBU Web Archive “Occult Voices – Paranormal Music, Recordings Of Unseen Intelligences 1905 – 2007”.
Not a lighthearted theme therefore stepping more into dark ambient terretories than his other releases which mainly keep an balance between experiments, dada, ambient craftmanship.

On the latest excellent pay-what-you want compilation from Argali – ‘Music For Dystopias’ – issued in August is another new track featured besides plenty of interesting artists somewhere between dark ambient, ambient, darkwave, drones and experimental. As the total lenght exceeds every double CD album this is a great listen when you’re in the mood for just this ..

On the other Hand there is t.r. hand now. Fluffy experimental ambient drones ?

What does that mean ? Try to find out here for a start before you head over to Submarine Broadcasting Co. to find a brand new collaborative album ..

The remastered CD version will be published on August 24th (Congrats) on Marc Bell’s (not the guy from LFO but the original Engineer back in time) TMR Records, in true independent spirit it is also available as free download already but hey what is a dl when you can get hold of some unfashionable physical relict to support the talented and the brave ?

Some in depth info’s and small talk from M.M.A.T.T. can be found directly over at MickMagicNet and besides there is a special fb group & event for this…

If this is not enough yet there is also the Klappstuhl ‘Best Of Tapes’ remastered Compilation which is kept in print / in digital all the time.

quintessential questionaire #14 : shriekback

Following their successful european live concerts from last year Barker / Marsh / Andrews & ??? put out another self released gem, most likely available exclusively from shriekback online and now already on PRE-ORDER.
Official release date : May 25th.

Here is the first new track :

UPDATE
So after repeated listenings all I can say there is rely on the Shrieks in whatever constellation besides one sour point in their History when they went ‘Bang’. Postpunkmonk even reviewed the Album track by track.

The Album is available in digital form now via the usual outlets (Deezer, Napster, KKBox etc and Itunes) too, the blog is updated to offer the digital only buyer the lyrics & credits. And here is a new Video from one of my favourite tracks:

London’s Lost Recordings – COIL Unearthed

January 2018

April 2018

Both the above are curated collections of material recently unearthed or in circulation before but not in the sound quality it deserved by the 2017 founded Coil Live Archive. While the main focus of Kiefer Gorena and Phil Barrington obviously concentrates on documenting and researching the Coil performance recordings any serious attempt to improve the incredible legacy is more then welcome.

In 2016 Phil Barrington already went through the remarkable process of re-creating the announced but never finished Coil Project and presented a possible version with ultimate care in sound and design also for free via archive.org.

It’s still questionable if Coil’s main body of work will ever be republished and made available for civil prices due to the many parties involved now in the estates of Peter and Jon (read an well-penned artile by PB here) and more than often only bootlegers seem to make profit out of their legacy since years.

A few exceptions of this where the Brainwashed related Treshhold Archive series which sadly came to an halt, Danny Hyde licensing ‘Backwards’ in it’s original form to Cold Spring, Drew McDowell re-issuing Time Machines or labels with an valid contract opted to reissue the albums, tracks and bits that where licensed to them (Important, Prescription, Sub Rosa, Optimo).

Live, Last & Lost – DD Gallhammer’s Jaywalker Remembered

Last November I had to learn that Dietmar Gallhammer, whom I first knew as driving force behind the swiss anarcho-hc-experimental band Jaywalker had died in Autumn 2012. We’ve been in touch briefly during the late 80’s and early 90’s resulting in an interview and an concert in my then home-town. On Klappstuhl I issued one of their tapes – live recordings from 1988 – on which I stumbled last Autumn again.
I needed a break from the heady electronic & experimental stuff I’ve been listening for some time continously and started to assemble the various bits and pieces, including the final tape he sent me as Jaywalker Recordings with permission to use it as it fits.
Over time parts of it appeared on various Compilations but never completely. So instead of simply reissuing the live tape for the digital age I’ve decided to remaster all the material and compile an Archive Release in the spirit of anarchistic DIY attitude as Free Download release with artwork based on DD’s original prints and dedicate this release to him.

When Jaywalker fell apart Dominique Mollet appeared as member of Dwarfish while DD founded another hc trio; Religious Overdose shortly after with Ivo Pärt & Thomas Peter, resulting in the album ‘Flatus Flow Rate’ in 1996. His more experimental leanings where sat on the back seat with this but not for long. In fact he got simultanously involved in Destroy After Use with Frankie Buchholz and Martin S. Past with whom he kept performing over the years on guitar and videoprojection. See some excerpts here on his utube channel.

Besides his musical musings he kept an interest in graphics and invested his time besides parenthood in a multi-media workshop for mentally handicaped people and founded a time-trade (trade of abilities and time instead of payment) platform in his home area Aargau.
Some of his graphical experiments with HDR photography can currently be viewed via his Flickr account.

A final glimpse showing the direction his musical path was going in 2012 is this otherwise unreleased solo track:

RIP & Thanks for all.

Welcome Autumn

Walt Thisney strikes again; exotica, kitsch, lounge, space pop – call it what you want but give him a ‘Welcome Back Walt’;

And in his usual genourous style the master of plunderphonical sidesteps also issued more detailed EP’s in a straight row from August to September; Walt Thisney plays KORLA PANDIT tunes, Mondo Saxtanico and not to forget:
Saxtanic Mass – Walt Thisney plays ANTON LAVEY tunes .

A new digital & limited tape release by the mastermind of DsorDNE on a new Italian label just appeared;

The Glove Of Bones & Cousin Silas reissued their mighty dubby ambient collaboration ‘Ornithology’ after the disappearence of Digital Dizzy on the acclaimed ambient netlabel We Are All Ghosts;
